Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - At 3AM
Now its 3am
Your mind’s running fast
reviewing events in the past.
You need a friend.
First you lie awake
with the covers pulled up tight.
Then you get up,
even though its night.
Maybe you’ll even try
to put the living room straight?
This Page is for you
my friend.
Written from a place
we’ve all been.
When you want to call someone-
but you’re all alone.
Or everyone’s asleep
in your home.
Look at the words
that are written here.
Draw from them comfort
and hold them dear.
You can feel the strength
that is offered here.
It’s 3am.
You wish someone were here.
Do not fear
someone is here

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - I Am No Longer a Victim
I am no longer a Victim.
I have always hated that word!
I am now a Survivor.
The road from one to the other
Was a long journey,
Which has no end, only new beginnings.
A Victim lives in fear.
A Survivor endures.
A Victim is weak and powerless,
Paying for what was not her doing.
A Survivor has grown strong
Because she knows the price is not hers to pay.
The Sin is not hers to atone.
God will extract the price from the right person
On the day when no lie can be told.
So do not call me a Victim.
I have always hated that word.

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - Insomnia
Why can we not change the past
Or right the wrongs that forever last
Painful memories cloud my mind
It hurt to be naive that time
Raped of mind and innocence lost
I had no say in what it cost
Dark dreams await my sleep
It hurts so bad I start to weep
I'm alone with my pain
Am I able to stay sane?

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - TORTURED SOULS
We are empathetic towards one another,
Our souls deteriorating with each other
Together we stay deep in thought,
Hoping happiness will soon be sought.
We are tortured souls, searching
Searching our hearts and our pasts
Forever fearing what may be lurking
Hoping that this misery will not last!
Fear is something that we know well,
Our souls locked together in this hell
Going insane trying to escape our cells
Together we have a lot to tell!
No one cares about who we are
So our hearts cry,
Locked behind this foggy glare
Our souls die!

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - Harvest
Harvest can mean so many things, so many things in deed.
Harvest can mean harvesting of the food.
OR
Harvest can mean the harvesting of the heart in need.
We can harvest so many things, there are so many things to do.
You can harvest from the word.
You can harvest from the Lord.
You can harvest from a friend.
There really isn't any end.
The harvesting from the word will make you feel good inside.
There really isn't any need to hide, when you're filled from harvesting
inside.
Share your harvest and watch it grow.
It will grow & grow & grow faster than you know.
Spread your harvest to those in need.
You'll never know where you started a seed.
Give thanksgiving to our Great Provider.
He will never let us thirst or hunger.
Giving thanks is part of the harvest of the heart.
Everyone who shares, need only a little part.
For Blessings & Thanks are in & from the heart.
From His heart to ours and from ours to His.
Let us give Thanks
BECAUSE
!!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS LIVES !!!!!!!!!!

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - Memories of The Soul Are Forbidden
We are among a web,
Of twisted confusion.
Only a beginning, never ending,
We are memories of the soul.
We are only traced
by the footsteps of our master
be thankful, for
We are memories of the soul
Try if you will,
Futility is all you can know
You have no place here
We are memories of the soul
And if you could see in,
What of you then?
Are you prepared
For the memories of the soul
Taking the form of dreams,
Distorting nothing for sanity's sake.
Reliving all in pieces,
We are memories of the soul.

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - The Dreamweaver
Come, beckons the night,
Let us dance together, and chase the dreamweaver
I am not laughing at you
It is only the laughter of the past
Rushing through your brain
I am harmless, why do you resist me so?
Pearls of wisdom are here within my walls
And peace offerings as well
Yet you quake at the sight of me
My power has not alluded you
Need I remind you?
You cannot resist me forever!
I am that necessary evil
Which recreates evil past
My nourishment lies in your screams
So, foolish one, scream on!
No one is listening, no one hears
Wake them; tell them of your sad tales
I will recapture them before your voice silences
But they will not find your persecutor
And will think you mad
Reach for the sun, it is hours 'til its' dawn
As I am your punisher, it is your reward
However, for now I am your companion
Let us dance together, and chase the dreamweaver
Come, I beckon you

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - Melody
There is a melody
inside of me
That changes with the breeze.
Sometimes fast,
yet other times slow,
it comes from the deepest
recesses of my innermost soul.
It is the rhythmic beating
of a latin dance,
Powerful,intense,
singing louder,
finding power
as each day I survive.
It is the gentle
flowing tones of a lullaby,
half whispered to a sleepy child.
Sleep my dear,
peace is near,
Each day I live.
I truly survive.

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - Midnight
Midnight
Darkness and silence,
Silence and fear,
Fear and pain,
Pain and terror,
In the night the demons descend,
To rest upon broken hearts,
Tormenting and torturing,
Is this never to end?
Darkness and silence,
Silence and fear,
Fear and pain,
Pain and terror,
Their wings wrap around the shattered souls,
Binding to them the terror they bring,
Banging against the door, demanding to be let in,
Please let this end.
Darkness and silence,
Silence and fear,
Fear and pain,
Pain and terror,
A crack in the door, a sliver of night,
Rushes of insanity, claws of dreams sink into the mind's flesh,
Please, oh please, let this all end.
Darkness and silence,
Silence and fear,
Fear and pain,
Pain and terror,
A hand reaches out to stroke the brow,
A kiss on the hand, fingers laced tight,
Light penetrates midnight, love washes away the pain,
Ah, at last, this is finally to end.
Courage and peace,
Peace and support,
Support and encouragement,
Encouragement and love,
Love and you,
Thank you my love,
Thank you my family,
Thank you my friends,
Thank you my Father,
At last the night ends.

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - The Pathway
Pain and terror,
Destruction and loss,
Grief and anguish.
Time and courage,
Tears and ablution,
Courage and solace.
Forgiving, but not forgetting,
Faith and trust rebuild...
The pathway of healing.

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - Friends
Friends come in many shapes
particularly when brought together
by surviving rapes.
We are like the trees
blown and bending by the breeze.
Though they toss
and bend and bow,
they hold fast
deeply rooted in the ground.
Our friends are the support
keeping us from being blown apart.
For in life
we must bend and give
like the trees in the wind.
Our roots support us
drawing in strength,
from friends.

Poetry by Domestic Violence and Rape Survivors - I...
I...
I was strong.
I was brave.
I was in love.
I was loved.
I thought one drink to loosen up.
I thought that was all it was.
I was wrong.
I am not brave.
I am not strong.
I am not in love.
I am not loved.
I have lost my innocence.
I can not go on with my shame!
I will never find anyone that could ever love me
past and all.
I will be strong again.
I will be brave again.
I will be in love again.
I will be loved again.
I will make it through.
I will go on with my shame.
I will over come everything.
I will find someone who can love me past and all.
I am strong again.
I am brave again.
I am in love again.
I am loved again.
I have make it through.
I have over come everything.
I have found someone that loves me past and all.
I have survived!!!
