Many people are effected by depression who don't even realize it. Some feel like they are "just blue" or that it will "go away". True depression isn't just feeling sad it is a treatable illness. I feel like most trauma survivors go through a period of depression from what people have shared with me via email. It's not a weakness nor is it anything to be ashamed about. Like having diabetes or asthma it too can be treated.
Just like diabetes or heart conditions, depression is a treatable disease. You need not suffer in silence. The following links will give you some information on just how widespread and how treatable this disease really is.

Many of us who aren't survivors may even find ourselves faced with depression. That's ok. The important thing is to seek treatment. Having problems with depression doesn't mean we're failures or that we can't handle what life throws at us. Don't let yourself believe that. There is help available if you want it. You never have to go it alone.
