Eating Disorders
| Eating Disorders effect many people in today's society. Just how prevalant are they? Some studies I'e read suggest that at least half of our population is overweight and that many of these people may have an eating disorder. Another study cites statistics showing that 4 percent of young women suffer from Bulimia, another eating disorder. We have all heard of the illness Anorexia at one time or another. |
"All my life I've battled
a food disorder but didn't know it.
Whenever life has gotten the
least bit stressful I'd head to
the fridge and eat whatever
was in sight. If I was bored I'd
eat. If I was excited I'd eat.
If I was happy I'd eat. My life
centered around food. I was
miserable. I'd diet and lose the
weight then gain it back again.
My childhood and Teen years
were terrible. Food was a punishment
and/or a reward.
My least weight was 128 lbs.
as a teen. My heaviest was 272.
I have kids now and want to
learn healthy eating habits to
teach them. I have a long way
to go." L. Aged 33
